Books

The main contributors to this website have also authored many books intended to help school students and teachers of Geography . The development of this website in the 1990s coincided with the publication of a series of books for school students published by Cambridge University Press. Consequently these were added here to help students and teachers. Also, unashamedly, this publicity may have helped to sell these volumes. Unfortunately this time also coincided with the webmaster needing to devote most of his time to caring for his ill wife so that this page never expanded to include reference to the many other tome published by these authors as a group or individually.
Books published by Cambridge University Press
Our Future – Our World is an Award winning series of books which were published for schools, but also found favour as general information with an almost ‘coffee table’ attraction. The books in this series are introduced here: A glimpse of the authors of the series can be found here. This series of school textbooks is out of print. They may be found in a local library, school or university library or in second-hand bookshops that deal in academic texts. Charity bookshops are always worth browsing. There are some websites dedicated to indicating where books may be found. There is the aforementioned Archive.org which has collected 44 million books and papers. This, of course, is supported by the Wayback Machine Downloader . One useful site for identifying libraries which potentially hold a book one is seeking can be found at WorldCAT . It has been noted elsewhere on this site that WorldCAT could help one find a copy of the 1997 Geography Awareness Week publication called Geography in a Hazardous World.
